A different kind of card

I made this card using a playing card from an incomplete set that I picked up at a thrift store.  It doesn't quite look like it, but the card base is actually ice crystal colored with a piece of orange card stock from my supply.  I used a Spellbinders nesting scalloped rectangle die to cut out the mat for the playing card.  The mat is Sedona Red card stock that I used on another project that was designed using ink pads direct to paper.

1 die, 2 different ways

I had this new die and needed a couple of birthday cards.  The die is from Poppy and I used Tim Holtz Gold Metallic paper to punch it out.  The base card is Stardream Crystal card stock.  I used 2 dragonfly and a bird brad from my supplies to attach the die and on the inside, used glue dots to put dragonfly confetti to camouflage the brads.  I set the die in portrait and the other one in a horizontal position.  I think that it works well in both styles.

Head's Up

I cased this card from one done by Michael Strong.  I used a template for the beer mug, then cut out 3 strips of Tim Holtz metallic gold paper and embossed them with the Memory Keepers bubble embossing folder.  I punched out 3 different size circles to use as the "foam" on top.  I edged the bubbles and the mug with a Sharpie gold marker, then stamped the sentiment from Great Impressions with white Staz-On ink.

This card was for my nephew's birthday who loves riding the trains.  The engine, track and sign were stamps by Tim Holtz and the Happy Birthday stamp is by Great Impressions.  All were stamped on basic white card stock.
